Numerology Number Meanings
What numerology is
Numerology is a tradition of reflection, not a science. It connects numbers with themes you can consider in everyday life. A theme might help you ask about a feeling, a choice or a way of showing care. You do not need to treat it as a label for the whole person. Start with a detail that feels useful to think about. Your own experience can guide which question you want to explore.
You might read a theme on your own or discuss it with someone close. Ask what the word means to each of you before assuming it describes the same experience. A small example can make an abstract idea easier to talk about. The aim here is a personal conversation, with room for an answer that is different from the one you first pictured.
How to find your life path number
A life path number brings a birth date together with a set of traditional themes. The examples below show the approach used in this guide. Methods vary between numerologists. Here, master numbers can remain at an earlier step as well as at the end. Each example follows the same rule. The meaning attached to a number is a separate matter for reflection. It offers language for thought about everyday life.
Add the digits of the birth month, the birth day and the birth year separately. Keep adding digits until you reach a single digit, but stop if you reach 11, 22 or 33. Then add the three results and reduce the same way.
14 July 1990: month 7; day 1 + 4 = 5; year 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19, then 1 + 9 = 10, then 1 + 0 = 1. 7 + 5 + 1 = 13, then 1 + 3 = 4. Life path 4.
1 January 1980: month 1; day 1; year 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 18, then 1 + 8 = 9. 1 + 1 + 9 = 11, a master number, so it stays 11. Life path 11.
11 November 2009: month 11 and day 11 stay as they are; year 2 + 0 + 0 + 9 = 11, which also stays. 11 + 11 + 11 = 33. Life path 33.
Master numbers
The numbers 11, 22 and 33 are traditionally called master numbers. Each has its own focus in these pages. For 11, inspiration sits beside sensitivity and inner listening. For 22, a broad vision meets patient building and teamwork. For 33, compassionate guidance goes with encouragement and shared learning. These themes apply to the life path and personal year entries here. The word master is a traditional label. It is not a rank or a measure of a person's worth.
Personal years
A personal year offers themes for reflection on a calendar year. These pages focus on everyday choices and connection, not events to expect. Fresh starts, for example, can describe a wish to begin something of your own. The themes include both single digits and master numbers. The examples below retain master numbers during the steps and at the end. As with life paths, different numerologists may use different methods. The examples describe this guide's approach.

Do the same with the birth month, the birth day and the current calendar year.
Birthday 14 July, year 2027: 7; 5; 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11, which stays. 7 + 5 + 11 = 23, then 2 + 3 = 5. Personal year 5.
Birthday 2 September, year 2027: 9; 2; 11. 9 + 2 + 11 = 22. Personal year 22.
